What actions have been taken to mitigate the effect of the coming silver tsunamis?

1.  Concept of aging in place is recommended.
Elderly prefer to stay at their home as long as they can. With the help of technology, the concept of aging in place is workable.

2.  Emphasis on multi-generation household to care for aged parent.
Children are encouraged to stay with or near elderly parents for moral care and support. Public housing scheme in support of this move are:
·      Multi-generation Priority Scheme
·      Married Child Priority Scheme

3.  Implementation of public housing scheme that help elderly to monetise their housing asset for retirement.
·      Right sizing with Silver Housing Scheme
·      Enhanced Lease buy back Scheme
·      Renting out HDB flat/ room
·      Moving into HDB Studio Apartment

4.  Implementation of Universal Design to building and amenities.
This not only cater to elderly and disabled, but also other age group. This helps to transform Singapore into an inclusive society.

5.  Ramping up the building elder care facilities, provision of home care.
